1. Survey on SEE Appeared Students

A survey was conducted among the SEE appeared students from a school:

  • 75% were interested in studying Science
  • 55% were interested in studying Staff Nurse
  • 5% denied giving information
  • 21 students were interested in studying both Science and Staff Nurse

Based on this information, answer the following:
a. Show the above information in a Venn Diagram. [1]
b. Find the total number of students inquired in the survey. [3]
c. Find the number of students who were interested in studying only Staff Nurse. [1]
d. If one student is randomly selected, what is the probability of selecting a student who passed only one subject? [1]


2. Compound Interest Calculation

A farmer deposited Rs. 3,00,000 in a development bank for 2 years to get half-yearly compound interest at 10% per annum. After one year, the bank changed the policy and decided to calculate the interest terminally at the same rate.

Answer the following:
a. Find the interest of the first year after deducting 5% tax. [1]
b. Calculate the interest of the second year after tax deduction. [2]
c. Find the difference in interest between the first and second year. [1]
d. After deducting tax, by what percentage does the first-year interest differ from the second year? [1]


3. Compound Depreciation on Car

Kiran bought a car. Due to a yearly compound depreciation rate, the price of the car became:

  • Rs. 32,40,000 in 2 years
  • Rs. 29,16,000 in 3 years

Answer the following:
a. Define Compound Depreciation. [1]
b. Find the original price of the car. [2]
c. If Kiran had bought land instead and its value increased to Rs. 46,65,600 at 8% annual increase, in how many years would this happen? [1]


4. Currency Exchange & Devaluation

Samir exchanged Nepali Rupees with American Dollars at the rate of $1 = Rs. 120. After 15 days, Nepali currency devaluated by 10%, and he made a profit of Rs. 1,11,000 by exchanging the same dollars back to Nepali currency.

Answer the following:
a. Find the new exchange rate of $1 in Nepali Rupees after devaluation. [1]
b. How much Nepali Rupees did Samir exchange initially? [2]
c. If the currency had revalued by 8% instead of devaluing, what would be his profit or loss? [1]


5. Surface Area & Volume of Aquarium

The total surface area of a square-based pyramid aquarium is 4200 cm², with the base length 42 cm.

Answer the following:
a. Write the formula for the area of triangular faces of the pyramid with base 'a' and slant height 'l'. [1]
b. Find the slant height of the aquarium. [2]
c. Diya said that the aquarium cannot hold 12 liters of water. Evaluate her statement. [1]


6. Pencil as a Combination of Cylinder & Cone

A well-sharpened pencil consists of a cylinder and a cone.

  • Base radius = 0.7 cm
  • Cylindrical part height = 4.8 cm
  • Total pencil length = 7.2 cm

Answer the following:
a. Write the formula for the curved surface area of a cone. [1]
b. Find the total surface area of the pencil. [2]
c. By how many times is the volume of the conical part less than the volume of the cylindrical part? [1]


7. Stadium Gate Pillars with Pyramids

The stadium gate has two pillars of height 10 ft each, and on top of each, a pyramid with the same base and 32 ft height is placed. Each pillar base = 4 ft × 4 ft.

Answer the following:
a. Draw two figures based on the given information. [1]
b. Find the slant height of the pyramid. [1]
c. Find the total surface area of the pillars to be colored. Should the base area be added for painting? Explain. [2]
d. Calculate the total cost of painting the pillars and pyramids at Rs. 95 per square foot. [1]


8. Salary Increment Calculation

Samrat is a branch manager at a bank.

  • Monthly salary = Rs. 50,000
  • Yearly increment = Rs. 2,000

Answer the following:
a. What type of sequence does his annual salary follow? [1]
b. Find his total income in 7 years. [2]
c. If Samrat leaves the bank after earning a total of Rs. 70,80,000, how many years did he work? [2]


9. Distributing Pencils Among Playgroup Students

A Montessori school planned to distribute 15 dozen pencils equally among students on Saraswati Puja. On that day, 5 students were absent, so each student got 3 extra pencils.

Answer the following:
a. What is the sum and product of roots of a quadratic equation? [2]
b. Find the total number of students enrolled. [2]
c. How many pencils did each student receive in total? [1]
